Carter's Turn!
Carter was very proud of Patrick when he received his yellow belt in June, but was sad to have been left behind because of the time away from karate during baseball season. He gracefully let go of the rank that he had shared with Patrick so far, as he watched Patrick advance one step above him. It was worth it for Carter to have had his baseball experience, but that experience dimmed a bit in the light of the fact that it hindered the sport that is part of him year round. Karate is such a personal endeavor as compared to team sports. Each person is in competition with only one other...himself. Because of this, choices are made based, not on where he will be in comparison to others, but on how he will handle it personally. Carter chose to give up some of his karate time for baseball and handled the personal setback with grace. Tonight, he reaped the benefit of hard work, consistency, and positive behavior as he joined Patrick in the ranks of yellow belt. We are so proud of you, Carter!

Congratulations Carter!
Congrats Carter! WTG!
I am so proud of you Carter!
Dad
Thanks so much for your comment on my blog about divorce. My own kids have also been affected. They were completely cut off from their dads family, not my choice, his families choice. My younger daughter really does not know her aunts, uncles or cousins. So I really do know first hand the affects of divorce on extended family. Thanks again for stopping by.
And congratulations to your son on this achievement :)
Congrats! Good Job! :)
