Happy New Year '09!!
Another year has come and gone, and we have spent the last four days bringing in the new one! On New Year's Eve, we went to a party at a friend's house. We had a huge bonfire with lots of food to cook over it. It was so cold, but we bundled everyone up and went on a hayride, followed by a couple of hours of fireworks. Then, we went in to warm up and play some games until midnight. We ran outside and popped our best stuff to ring the new year in. I've been away from Jeff for the last three New Year's Eves, so it was great to be with him. It was such a fun night....a perfect way to celebrate! On Friday, Jeff's mom and dad cooked a big lunch for everyone. We went to eat with them, then the kids and I headed to my sister's house for a few nights. We took more fireworks to pop with them. Every year, the kids enjoy them more and more. Vicki's youngest son, Landon, is no longer afraid of them and will even ask to help with some of the easier ones. I was so happy that the weather was a bit warmer so we could enjoy being out there. Madison and her cousin, Kinley, had a couple of birthday parties for their babies while we were there. Madison has been planning these parties for weeks. She reminds me so much of myself! She made a list of all the things that she wanted to do and checked them off as they were done. She and Kinley made the cakes and everything...it was so fun to watch.
Madison has really enjoyed her new American Girl "just like me" doll. She came with a little book of cool things to make for the doll. She has spent so much time with that book. Here is a little tray full of cookies that she made out of modeling clay to have at the parties. She spent so much time making and painting them...then made the tray for her doll to hold them with. I love to see what she comes up with next!

On Friday night, we built another bonfire. I had a kit with everything we needed for smores, and we roasted wieners for hotdogs. We ended up with twelve kids there, running around and playing until midnight. We had such a good time.
We got home from Vicki's house today. We are all so tired from staying up past midnight for the last four nights. It has been such a great Christmas break...I hate to see it end.
Happy New Year everyone!

It sounds like y'all had a great New Year's celebration! I am dreading starting school again tomorrow after this break!
You guys always seem to have so much fun! Right now, with our young ones waking up by 7, we don't dare stay up until midnight.
Sounds like a wonderful New Year with lots of fun. Smores, yum!!! We love to make smores here. We began our lessons today after a 2week break and even though I was not ready to get back into the swing of things, it turned out really nice and the girls were so good. I hope it all went well for you today. Happy New Year Sherri!
Looks like some wonderful times! Madison is very talented.
